Exclusive: Inside Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift’s Dinner Before Custody Lawsuit – You Won’t Believe What Happened!
Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner’s NYC Hangout Takes an Unexpected Turn
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner during their recent New York City hangout. After the pair went to dinner at Via Carota in Manhattan, a lawsuit filed in a Manhattan court reveals that the Game of Thrones alum has requested her two daughters with estranged husband Joe Jonas be returned to England amid their recent split.
The Casual Hangout
“They were normal. Completely normal,” a source tells PEOPLE of Swift, 33, and Turner’s dinner outing. “Everyone was all excited, but they were normal.”
Following their meal at Via Carota, Swift and Turner headed to Temple Bar on Lafayette Street. An onlooker shared that Turner seemed to be enjoying the night and that Swift is always there to cheer her up.
The Lawsuit
Turner’s newly filed lawsuit concerning her children, Willa, 3, and a 14-month-old baby girl, identified in court documents as D., calls for the immediate return of the children to England. Turner and Joe Jonas had agreed to make England their “forever home” during a conversation they had over Christmas 2022.
The documents allege that Turner and Jonas were in the process of purchasing a countryside residence in England in April when they sold the Miami house they had been living in. Turner then began filming on the Joan mini-series, which she has worked on this summer.
Once Jonas started a Jonas Brothers tour, the agreement was made that their kids would join him since he had more daytime availability to spend with them than Turner did while filming. Turner expressed some hesitation about this temporary arrangement.
Concerns About the Split
Turner claims that their marriage broke down very suddenly after an argument in August. Jonas then filed for divorce in September, and Turner learned about the split from the media shortly after.
Jonas’ representative shared a statement that denies Turner’s claim of learning about the divorce from the media, stating that she was aware that Joe was going to file for divorce.
The Custody Dispute
The issue of custody became a challenge when Turner and Jonas met up recently to discuss next steps. Turner reiterated her plan to move to England and faced pushback from Jonas. The Florida Court had already entered an order restricting both parents from relocating the children, which Turner was served with on September 6.
After their meeting, Turner demanded through a filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately. Jonas’ representative called it an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage ending.
Jonas and Turner married in 2019 after three years of dating. At the time of their split, they both posted a joint statement on their social media announcing the end of their four-year marriage, asking for privacy and respect for their decision.
With a casual hangout in NYC turning into a legal battle over custody, Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner’s friendship provides support through challenging times.
