The Wait is Over: Kanye West’s Highly Anticipated Album with Ty Dolla $ign Dropping This Week!
Exciting news for fans of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign! The dynamic duo’s joint album is set to be released on Friday, December 15, as confirmed by Kanye West himself during an impromptu playback session in Miami over the weekend. The FADER has reached out to representatives of both artists for further details.
Rumors of a collaborative project between Ye and Ty Dolla $ign have been swirling for months, with reports in October suggesting that the pair was already sharing the album with select individuals in Italy while looking for a label to distribute the final product.
During his time in Miami, Kanye West was spotted at various party appearances, where footage of him playing a new song sampling Backstreet Boys’ hit “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” made its rounds on social media. Evian Christ, the U.K.-based DJ and producer who previously worked with West on the Yeezus album, initially claimed to have produced the track. However, his publicist later refuted these claims, stating that Evian Christ was not in fact involved in producing for Kanye West at this time.
Prior to the album’s release, Ty Dolla $ign teased fans by sharing a tracklist on his Instagram account. And on Sunday night, Kanye West treated club-goers in Miami to a sneak peek of new songs from the upcoming album. These tracks are said to feature collaborations with Quavo, Young Thug, Future, Nicki Minaj, and more. West revealed that the album will be titled “Vultures” and is scheduled to drop this Friday. The title “Vultures” has already made an appearance on a jacket worn by West and was also the name of a previous single featuring Lil Durk that was released in November.
Playboi Carti also hinted at his involvement in the project by sharing a screenshot of an invitation to a Miami party, where his music was reportedly showcased alongside other new tracks
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign previously collaborated on the track “Junya Pt.2” from Kanye’s Donda album in 2021. Ty Dolla $ign also dropped his solo single “Motion” back in June of this year.
If the joint album indeed gets released this week, it will mark Kanye West’s first album since facing backlash for making derogatory and antisemitic comments in late 2022. Following the controversial remarks, Adidas, Def Jam, Balenciaga, CAA, his lawyer, and a film studio working on a documentary about Kanye all severed their ties with the artist.
