Breaking: Taylor Swift stalker sentenced to jail time
Seattle man David Crowe, 33, found himself back in court facing another charge for violating a court order to stay away from Taylor Swift’s Tribeca townhouse. The charge of second-degree criminal contempt came after Crowe was arrested once again outside Swift’s residence, adding to previous charges of stalking and harassment. This latest arrest on Wednesday follows his previous apprehensions on Saturday and Monday for separate incidents at the pop star’s home.
Judge Marisol Martinez Alonso ordered Crowe to jail under a New York law designed to protect victims from individuals who defy court orders. Additionally, he was instructed to undergo a psychiatric evaluation requested by his defense attorney. As officers escorted him out of the courtroom on Thursday, Crowe muttered incomprehensible words, ending with the mention of “survival.” He was clad in a beige hoodie with the phrase “Love does not just sit there” emblazoned on the back.
Crowe’s bizarre behavior continued even after being released from custody on Wednesday following his arraignment for attempting to break into Swift’s Franklin St. apartment on Monday. Shortly after his release, police sources reported seeing him behaving erratically near Swift’s residence. Prosecutors argued that his return to Swift’s home blatantly demonstrated his failure to comply with a court order.
In discussions with law enforcement, a security worker at Swift’s building revealed that he had crossed paths with Crowe approximately 30 times between November 25 and Monday, persistently trying to reach the singer. Despite being told to leave on at least 10 occasions, Crowe continued his attempts to contact Swift, culminating in multiple encounters with the police. One such incident occurred on a previous Saturday when Crowe was served a summons and directed to Brooklyn Criminal Court to address an outstanding warrant.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Swift has dealt with overzealous fans and stalkers. In July 2022, Joshua Christian of Brooklyn threatened Swift through her intercom, expressing intentions to harm her if they were not together. Previous incidents involved a super-fan in 2021, a stalker in 2019, and a musician seeking career opportunities in 2016. Stalkers have also targeted Swift’s properties in Beverly Hills and Rhode Island, highlighting the ongoing challenges the singer faces in maintaining her safety and privacy.
