Experience the Electric Energy as Slash Performs Rare Guns N’ Roses ‘Use Your Illusion’ Track Live for the First Time!
Slash, legendary guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, has surprised fans by playing a deep cut from the band’s repertoire live for the first time ever. The iconic musician has just embarked on his 2024 world tour alongside Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, kicking things off in Mexico City on January 23.
During the show, Slash gifted the audience with a special rendition of ‘Don’t Damn Me’, a track from the band’s 1991 album ‘Use Your Illusion I’. This marked the debut live performance of the song, making it a truly memorable moment for attendees.
Back in a 2014 interview, Slash had revealed that the reason ‘Don’t Damn Me’ had never been performed live before was due to its extensive lyrics. “You know, it’s a cool song and everything,” he shared. “I think even [with] Axl [Rose], we never did it because it was just too many words without a breath, and it just makes it really impossible to do it live.”
However, Myles Kennedy rose to the challenge and successfully tackled the intricate track, much to the delight of the crowd. His stellar performance showcased his versatility as a vocalist and added a new layer of excitement to the concert.
Meanwhile, fellow Guns N’ Roses member Duff McKagan recently defended the band’s tradition of playing marathon three-and-a-half-hour sets. Despite the physical toll it takes on him, McKagan emphasized the band’s commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience for their fans.
“Most bands play two hours… two hours and 10 minutes or something, and we’re playing three [hours and] thirty [minutes],” McKagan explained. “I’d love to play shorter because, just, I’d be in less pain the next day. But, there’s just too many songs, and people stay for the whole thing. Nobody leaves, so it’s like, ‘Okay, they must be enjoying this’.”
As Slash continues to captivate audiences around the world with his electrifying performances, it’s evident that his musical prowess knows no bounds. Stay tuned for more updates on his 2024 tour and be sure not to miss out on the chance to witness rock ‘n’ roll history in the making.
