Get Ready to Rock with the Long Beach Symphony as They Bring the Stones to the Stage!
The Long Beach Symphony is set to deliver a musical extravaganza like never before, blending the classical elegance of a symphony orchestra with the rock and roll spirit of The Rolling Stones. On Feb. 3, music lovers will be treated to a thrilling one-night concert titled Windborne’s Music of the Rolling Stones.
Conducted by Brent Havens, this unique performance promises to elevate the timeless music of The Rolling Stones to new heights. “Emotionally, it takes it to a different place, but also adds another flavor, another color,” explains Havens. “I want people to walk away feeling like they’ve experienced one of the coolest things ever.”
Joining the orchestra on stage will be a dynamic five-member Stones tribute band led by the charismatic Mick Adams, who will channel the spirit and energy of Mick Jagger to bring six decades of Stones tunes to life. “It’s beyond cool. It’s really amazing and powerful,” Adams enthuses.
This concert is a part of the symphony’s Pops! concert series, where the orchestra sheds its classical constraints and delves into the realms of pop and rock music in a more laid-back setting. “They can play literally anything. It’s a great orchestra,” Havens praises.
Audience members are encouraged to arrive early, bringing their own food and drinks to tailgate in the arena. And while they’re at it, they should also bring their dance moves and be prepared to rock out to some of the greatest rock songs of all time.
Highlighted in the repertoire are iconic Stones classics such as “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Under My Thumb,” “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Let’s Spend The Night Together,” and the evergreen hit “Satisfaction.” These legendary tunes will seamlessly intertwine with the orchestra, creating a harmonious fusion of rock and classical music.
“I treat the orchestra as a member of the band and the band as a member of the orchestra, making it all one big thing,” Havens explains. “And it works incredibly well.”
For Havens, certain Stones songs hold a particularly emotional resonance when backed by a full orchestra. “Ballads like ‘Wild Horses’ or the intensity of ‘Paint it Black’ really shine in this unique setting,” he shares. “When you hear it live with a full orchestra, it takes the music to another dimension.”
