Controversy and Chaos: Kanye West’s Album Distributor Faces Battle to Take Down New Release
According to a recent development, the distribution platform through which Kanye West released his latest album “Vultures 1” is actively working to have it taken down. West collaborated with rapper Ty Dolla $ign for this full-length record, which was released through FUGA, a tech and distribution platform utilized by record labels.
Allegedly, FUGA was not informed about West’s new release ahead of time. A spokesperson from the company informed Billboard, “Late last year, FUGA was presented with the opportunity to release Vultures 1. Exercising our judgment in the ordinary course of business, we declined to do so.” The spokesperson further stated, “On Friday, February 9, 2024, a long-standing FUGA client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes, violating our service agreement. Therefore, FUGA is actively working with its DSP partners and the client to remove Vultures 1 from our systems.”
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have already criticized Kanye West for using a Black Sabbath sample without permission in his album “Vultures 1”. Ozzy described West as an antisemite, expressing his disapproval and desire to have no association with the musician.
West, known for his controversial comments, addresses the antisemitism controversy in the lyrics of his new record. In the closing song “King”, he declares himself as “still the king” despite the controversies surrounding him. Additionally, in the title track “Vultures”, he seemingly makes light of the antisemitism row with provocative lyrics.
In a feature that explores West’s ongoing controversies, The Independent’s music editor Roisin O’Connor highlighted the backlash West has faced over the years for his controversial statements and actions. From antisemitic remarks to misogynistic lyrics, Kanye West’s behavior has led to calls for his cancellation in the music industry and beyond.
