Exclusive Exhibition: Unseen Rolling Stones Photos Revealed in London for the First Time!
The iconic Rolling Stones are set to be immortalized in a London art gallery, showcasing previously unseen photographs capturing the band at their “decadent peak.” These striking images, taken by photographer “Spanish Tony” Sanchez, offer a unique glimpse into the band’s world during that era. Thought to have been lost, these prints have resurfaced and are now considered a significant addition to The Rolling Stones’ visual history.
Entitled “Elegantly Wasted,” the exhibition will feature a collection of photographs showcasing the band in a way that has rarely been seen before. Sanchez, who had intimate access to the band, managed to capture their essence in a series of idiosyncratic shots that are a collector’s dream.
From snapshots taken at the “Rock and Roll Circus” show in 1968 to behind-the-scenes images during the “Beggars Banquet” album cover shoot, these photographs offer a raw and unfiltered look at one of the most iconic bands in rock history.
The showcase will be held at J/M Gallery in London from February 28 to March 5, allowing fans and collectors alike to immerse themselves in the visual legacy of The Rolling Stones. Limited edition prints will also be available for purchase through Bayliss Rare Books, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of rock history.
Oliver Bayliss, the owner and founder of Bayliss Rare Books, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “Fans and collectors alike are in for a real treat with these images. Tony’s unique perspective and the quality of these prints are truly remarkable.”
Spanish Tony Sanchez, who passed away in 2000, was not only a photographer but also an integral part of the band’s inner circle. Described as a colorful character, Sanchez’s close relationship with Stones guitarist Keith Richards offered him unparalleled access to the band and their world.
Richards himself once shared insights into Sanchez’s personality, calling him a “hard man” involved in various activities like running a gambling casino for Spanish waiters. Despite his rough exterior, Sanchez’s photographs capture a softer, more intimate side of The Rolling Stones.
As The Rolling Stones gear up for their upcoming tour of the US and Canada, anticipation is high among fans and music enthusiasts. The tour, set to kick off in Houston on April 28 and conclude in Santa Clara, California, on July 17, promises to be a celebration of the band’s timeless hits and tracks from their latest album, “Hackney Diamonds.”
Comprising 12 new tracks, “Hackney Diamonds” marks The Rolling Stones’ first release in 18 years, representing a poignant moment following the passing of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. Front man Mick Jagger revealed that Watts had contributed to two tracks on the album, recorded two years prior to his untimely death.
The lead single from the album, “Angry,” has already made waves with its music video featuring Sydney Sweeney from the popular series “White Lotus.” As the band prepares to hit the road once again, fans can look forward to experiencing The Rolling Stones’ timeless music and legendary energy in a live setting.
