Eminem aficionados were in for a shock when the rapper pulled off an unexpected April Fools’ Day prank with his new album announcement. On Monday morning, Eminem dropped an album trailer on X, formerly known as Twitter, featuring tweets from eager fans urging him to release new music. It seemed like Slim Shady’s supporters were finally going to get their wish granted. But, to their dismay, it turned out that the trailer was actually for Em’s Infinite album from 1996.
In the video, the narrator teased, “The highly anticipated next studio album goes back to where it all started. Infinite but now it’s even more infinite. Out today.” With the prank coinciding with April Fools’ Day, Eminem’s dedicated Stans were left scratching their heads, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Despite the playful trick, Dr. Dre recently spilled the beans that Eminem is indeed gearing up to drop a new album soon. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last month, the legendary producer revealed, “Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year. And he said it’s okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, and it’s fire.”
