Unleashed: Rare Live Footage of Led Zeppelin Surfaces – A Must-See for Fans
Exciting news for fans of the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin! April 2024 has proven to be a treasure trove of never-before-seen footage of the iconic group in action. If you’re a Led Zeppelin enthusiast, this month has been a dream come true.
It all started early in the month when nearly an hour of 8mm footage from Led Zeppelin’s 1975 show in Montreal, Canada, surfaced online. Fans were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the band during this historic performance. Just when the excitement began to settle, more rare footage emerged.
Less than a week later, footage of Led Zeppelin’s 1977 show in Chicago, although cut short, made its way to eager fans. And now, the latest addition to this exciting wave of previously unseen videos is here.
The most recent footage comes from a show at the Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio, on January 24, 1975. Don Andree, a dedicated Led Zeppelin fan, captured this footage just two weeks before the Montreal show. In 2018, Andree generously donated a copy of his footage to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame archive. The archive then shared a copy with LedZepNews for further research.
Despite not owning the copyright, LedZepNews, in collaboration with the YouTube channel LedZepFilm, successfully published the footage after locating and obtaining permission from Andree, the copyright holder.
The nine-minute video showcases Led Zeppelin performing classics like Rock And Roll, The Song Remains The Same, The Rain Song, No Quarter, How Many More Times, and of course, Stairway To Heaven. The footage has been synchronized with existing audience recordings by LedZepFilm, giving fans a truly immersive experience.
According to a contemporary review in the Akron Beacon Journal, vocalist Robert Plant faced initial challenges due to years of strain on his vocal cords. However, Plant quickly proved that he still had the ability to captivate the audience with his powerful vocals.
Another report from Pulse magazine highlighted the band’s laid-back and relaxed stage presence during the show. Despite some members enjoying a drink or two, the musicians delivered a stellar performance that left a lasting impression on the audience.
