Benson Boone’s Smash Hit ‘Beautiful Things’ Soars to the Top of Pop Airplay Charts!
Benson Boone’s captivating single “Beautiful Things” has climbed to the coveted top spot on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart as of April 27. This achievement marks Boone’s first No. 1 hit on the chart, following the success of his previous releases “Ghost Town” and “In the Stars,” which peaked at No. 24 and No. 36, respectively.
Notably, the track is released under Night Street/Warner Records, leading Warner to secure consecutive No. 1s on Pop Airplay for the first time. “Beautiful Things” dethrones Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” also under Warner, after holding the top spot for two weeks. With “Beautiful Things” at No. 1 and “Lose Control” at No. 2, Warner currently holds the top two positions on Pop Airplay simultaneously, a remarkable milestone for the label.
The Pop Airplay chart, in existence since October 1992, ranks songs based on weekly plays across over 150 mainstream top 40 radio stations monitored by Mediabase, with data provided by Luminate.
“Beautiful Things” has not only dominated the Pop Airplay chart but has also reigned supreme on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for eight weeks and the Billboard Global 200 for seven weeks leading up to April 20. Furthermore, the song continues to top the Adult Pop Airplay chart for a second consecutive week. On the prestigious Billboard Hot 100, “Beautiful Things” has peaked at an impressive No. 2 position.
The heartwarming ballad, co-written by Benson Boone, is featured on his debut album “Fireworks & Rollerblades,” released on April 5. Boone shared with Billboard that the inspiration for the song struck him while playing his grandmother’s piano in L.A., reflecting on a new and uncertain relationship that left him feeling vulnerable and out of control.
Boone expressed, “For the first time in my life, I felt like I was extremely out of control of the way this relationship would turn out. Meaning like, in the past, I feel like I’ve always known that I could be the one to end a relationship. This one felt very different. It was the first time that I’d really been actually, genuinely terrified to lose something.”
