Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine have exciting news for all their fans! They have just announced additional dates for their Poisoned Ascendancy world tour. These metalcore favorites revealed their plans in February, intending to coheadline and celebrate the 20th anniversaries of their breakthrough albums, Ascendancy and The Poison, by performing them live in full.
The original UK tour dates are set to kick off on January 26, 2025, in Cardiff, Wales, and wrap up on February 1 in London. But now, they have added a string of European shows to the tour to delight even more fans across the continent.
If that’s not thrilling enough, Swedish groove/death metal up-and-comers Orbit Culture will be the support act for the UK and Europe gigs, ensuring an unforgettable night of metal mayhem.
Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine have made it clear that The Poisoned Ascendancy is a world tour, hinting that more dates in North and South America and Asia will be added soon.
Ascendancy, Trivium’s debut album on iconic label Roadrunner Records, was released on March 15, 2005. While it initially charted at 151 in the US, it gained critical acclaim and became a sleeper hit, especially in the UK following Trivium’s main-stage set at Download festival, Donington, that June. Ascendancy has since been certified Gold in the UK.
On the other hand, The Poison, the debut album of Bullet For My Valentine, was released on October 3, 2005, reaching number 21 on the UK album charts. Like Ascendancy, it also received critical acclaim and has been certified Gold in the UK and the US, as well as Platinum in Germany.
When the initial dates for the Poisoned Ascendancy tour were announced, Matt Heafy, Trivium’s singer and guitarist, expressed, “Bullet For My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy are two records whose influence can be heard to this day – in the DNA of modern metal.” He went on to emphasize the impact both albums had in 2005 as they were released, describing them as “bolts of lightning” that helped the bands rise to prominence.
Similarly, Matt Tuck, the frontman of Bullet For My Valentine, shared his excitement, saying, “I honestly can’t believe it’s been 20 years since the release of The Poison and what an incredible 20 years it’s been.” He emphasized the significance of their debut album in shaping their musical journey and acknowledged the global impact it had on the metal scene.
