Taylor Swift’s New Song ‘Tortured Poets’ Breaks Spotify Records with 300 Million Streams in Just One Day!
Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, continues to shatter records on Spotify, making history on Friday, April 19. The pop superstar’s newest release became the first album in Spotify’s history to accumulate over 300 million streams in a single day.
The Tortured Poets Department achieved this milestone in less than 12 hours after its debut, surpassing BeyoncĂ©’s Cowboy Carter as Spotify’s most streamed album in a single day in 2024. The 31-track double album set a new benchmark with 300.41 million on-demand official streams in its first full week of release.
But the achievements did not stop there. The album’s lead single, “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, also broke records on Spotify, becoming the most streamed song in a single day on the streaming platform. Co-written by Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Jack Antonoff, and co-produced by Swift and Antonoff, “Fortnight” quickly climbed to the top of Spotify’s charts.
Swift announced the release of “Fortnight” as the first single from The Tortured Poets Department on Thursday, expressing her admiration for Post Malone’s songwriting skills and musical creativity. The collaboration between the two artists and Jack Antonoff resulted in a captivating track that resonated with fans and dominated the streaming charts.
The Tortured Poets Department marks Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album and her first collection of new music since the Grammy-winning Midnights in 2022. Featuring collaborations with Florence + the Machine and Post Malone, as well as songwriting and production contributions from Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, the album showcases Swift’s diverse musical talents.
While The Tortured Poets Department is Swift’s latest original album, she has also released re-recorded versions of her previous albums under the Taylor’s Version series. Amidst her new music releases, Swift saw success with both Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version), with the latter becoming her sixth album to debut with over one million pure sales in its first week, solidifying her status as a chart-topping artist.
