Get a Taste of James ‘Yummy’ Topping the Charts at No. 1!

Exciting news for music fans as after 42 years, the iconic band James has finally landed a U.K. No. 1 studio album with their latest release, Yummy. The album, released via Nothing But Love Music, has completed the chart week at No. 1, marking the second time Tim Booth and Co. have taken the top spot. Their previous No. 1 was the 1998 career retrospective The Best Of, making this their 19th U.K. top 40 appearance.

Not far behind, Beyoncé continues to shine with her former leader Cowboy Carter (Columbia/Parkwood Ent.) holding steady at No. 2. Meanwhile, Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler makes a splash with his No. 3 entry, One Deep River (EMI), matching his solo career high and earning his ninth top 10 album.

As a former member of Dire Straits, Knopfler has an impressive record with four No. 1 albums and 11 top 10 hits. But it’s not just the veterans making waves on the charts. Linkin Park returns after seven years with Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023), debuting at No. 4, their first album since the passing of frontman Chester Bennington. British rock band Kris Barras Band also secures a career high with Halo Effect (Earache), entering at No. 5.

Another notable achievement comes from Leeds band English Teacher, who make their debut in the top 10 with This Could Be Texas (Island) landing at No. 8. And after a 30-year wait, Glasgow’s GUN blasts back into the top 10 with Hombres (Cooking Vinyl) at No. 10. Their last top 10 success was back in 1994 with Swagger, peaking at No. 4.

U.S. hip-hop stars Future and Metro Boomin narrowly miss out on another top 10 hit with their collaborative album We Still Don’t Trust You (Epic/Freebandz/Republic) debuting at No. 11. This comes on the heels of their previous collab, We Don’t Trust You, which reached No. 2 on the March 29 chart.

The latest Official U.K. Albums Chart, published on April 19, sees a slew of new releases making their mark. Maggie Rogers enters at No. 12 with Don’t Forget Me, released via Polydor, while Nia Archives’ Silence Is Loud (No. 16 via Island) and Girl in Red‘s I’m Doing It Again Baby (No. 37 via Columbia) also make their debut on the chart.
