The 25-year-old was greeted by friends outside the jail upon his release and wasted no time getting back into the studio to work on new music. Sheff G was among 33 individuals arrested in May 2023 on charges ranging from murder to weapons, kidnapping, assault, and conspiracy. Prosecutors allege that the rapper used his music income to fund violent crimes and perpetuate gun violence across the city in exchange for money and other lavish rewards.
District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated, “Sheff G became a prominent member of this gang and became central to our investigation. Sheff G used a lot of the money that he earned to facilitate further gang activity. He encouraged gang members to participate in violent crimes.” The charges against Sheff and his co-defendants include committing shootings, possessing guns, and using stolen vehicles in the commission of violent acts.
The rapper was also accused of being the getaway driver in a shooting incident targeting a rival in April 2021. Two bystanders were also injured in the crossfire, further adding to the severity of the allegations against Sheff G.
This recent legal saga is not Sheff G’s first encounter with the law. Prior to his gang-related arrest, Sheff G was serving a two-year sentence on gun possession charges. Despite seeking early release, he was denied by the parole board in November.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams emphasized the city’s commitment to holding alleged criminals accountable, regardless of their status or wealth. He stated, “Doesn’t matter if they reach fame and fortune, they’re going to use their fame and fortune to enhance their ability to access dangerous guns. We’re not going to surrender our streets to violence.”
As Sheff G steps back into the spotlight following his release, fans are eagerly awaiting his new music and hoping for a fresh start for the Brooklyn rapper. Stay tuned to Music Nation 365 for further updates on this developing story!
