Exclusive Interview: Becky G spills on her Co-Hosting experience and celebrates the Anniversary of ‘Shower’

Becky G is set to have a double celebration this week as she co-hosts the 2024 Latin American Music Awards and commemorates the 10th anniversary of her hit song “Shower.”

Teaming up with Thalia, Alejandra Espinoza, and Carlos Ponce, Becky, whose real name is Rebbeca Marie Gomez, will be co-hosting the award show in a groundbreaking bilingual broadcast. This marks the first time a major U.S. award show will feature a bilingual presentation, as stated in a press release.

The Mexican-American singer expressed her excitement about this historical moment, emphasizing her pride in being part of such a significant event. “It’s my first time attending one of these awards shows and feeling proud of my Spanglish heritage,” she shared exclusively with Billboard.

Being 100% Latina and 100% American, Becky touched on the significance of inclusivity in the bilingual celebration. She highlighted the importance of embracing one’s roots and culture, especially for multi-generational families who may not always feel welcomed in such settings.

Reflecting on the theme of this year’s event, “We Speak Música,” Becky reminisced about the impact of her breakthrough song “Shower” on her fans. Released a decade ago, the track propelled her career to new heights, leading to where she is today. “To fast forward and still be doing what I love so much, I feel incredibly blessed,” she shared.

The 2024 Latin American Music Awards is scheduled to air live on Thursday, April 25th, at 7 p.m. ET from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Viewers can catch the show on Univision, UNIMÁS, Galavisión, and ViX.
