This anticipated event, presented by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Museum, will take place on May 21 at the prestigious Novo Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The gala will be hosted by the esteemed CBS broadcast journalist Anthony Mason.
Andra Day, who previously won a Grammy for best compilation soundtrack for visual media, is gearing up to grace the stage alongside The War and Treaty, who garnered two Grammy nominations last year, including one for best new artist. The annual gala will showcase and celebrate 10 new recordings being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame this year.
This year’s inductees include iconic albums such as De La Soul’s “3 Feet High and Rising”, Guns N’ Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction”, Buena Vista Social Club’s self-titled album, and Lauryn Hill’s “The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill”. Additionally, singles from Donna Summer, the Doobie Brothers, Charley Pride, Wanda Jackson, William Bell, and Kid Ory’s Creole Orchestra will also be honored and celebrated.
Atlantic Records, a label that is marking its 75th anniversary, will be recognized and celebrated at the gala. Atlantic Music Group chairman & CEO Julie Greenwald and Atlantic Records chairman & CEO Craig Kallman expressed their gratitude for this honor, highlighting the company’s rich history of groundbreaking recordings.
The evening will kick off with a red carpet and VIP reception at the Ray Charles Terrace at the Grammy Museum, followed by a memorable concert at the Novo Theater. Renowned producer Ken Ehrlich, along with Chantel Sausedo and Ron Basile, will oversee the event’s production, with Greg Phillinganes slated to serve as musical director.
The Grammy Hall of Fame, established in 1973, has a long tradition of honoring timeless recordings. The inducted recordings, selected annually by a special committee, now number 1,152. Recipients receive a certificate from the Recording Academy and the Grammy Museum to commemorate their induction.
