Kanye West Opens Up About Heartbreak After Lil Durk’s Yeezy Diss
Kanye West, the iconic rapper from Chicago, recently opened up about feeling hurt after being dissed by his fellow Chicagoan and former collaborator, Lil Durk. In a candid conversation on Justin Laboy’s The Download podcast, Ye discussed his relationship with Durk, who featured on the title track from his first Vultures album alongside Ty Dolla $ign.
Durk’s lyrics in the unreleased track “Field Trip,” which also features Playboi Carti and rumored to have Kodak Black appear on Vultures 2, seemed to have upset Kanye. The OTF frontman rapped, “My new Yeezy hat, gave my lil’ hoe that,” in a leaked snippet of the song that surfaced back in February.
In the podcast interview, Kanye expressed his disappointment in Lil Durk’s choice of words, questioning whether Durk ever truly liked him. Kanye revealed that Durk’s diss hurt him more than when Durk joined Drake on tour, as he felt it was disrespectful for a former collaborator to turn against him in such a manner.
This isn’t the first instance of tension between Kanye and Lil Durk. Last year, West had briefly removed Durk from his song “Vultures,” only to later reinstate him. However, the strained relationship between the two artists further escalated when Durk decided to remove Kanye’s contributions from his own album, Almost Healed.
Despite these conflicts, there seems to be a glimmer of hope for reconciliation between Kanye and Durk. Durk, in an interview with Akademiks, mentioned that Kanye had actually worked on his entire album, showcasing his genius in the process. Durk stated that Kanye was in a good headspace during their interactions, hinting at a positive dynamic between the two artists.
It’s evident that the dynamic between Kanye West and Lil Durk is complex, with ups and downs in their collaborative journey. As fans eagerly await the release of Vultures 2 and other upcoming projects from these talented artists, only time will tell if they can put aside their differences and create magic once again in the studio.
