This latest release marks a significant moment for the eight-time Grammy winner, as it is her first proper release since her album Walls in 2018, which debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200 chart. Streisand has also treated fans to a range of compilation, anniversary edition, and live albums over the years, including Evergreens and Release Me 2.
Speaking about “Love Will Survive,” Streisand expressed, “Because of the rise in antisemitism around the world today, I wanted to sing this song in the context of The Tattooist of Auschwitz as a way of honoring the six million lost souls from less than 80 years ago. The message is clear – even in the darkest of times, love can triumph and endure.”
“Love Will Survive” serves as Streisand’s first television series recording and features as the end title for The Tattooist of Auschwitz, set to premiere on Peacock on May 2. The heartfelt ballad was composed by a talented team including Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve, and Walter Afanasieff.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz chronicles the story of Lali, a Jewish man from Slovakia played by Jonah Hauer-King, who finds himself in the harrowing Auschwitz concentration camp. Forced to tattoo identification numbers on fellow prisoners’ arms, Lali’s tale is one of resilience and survival amidst unspeakable tragedy.
