Get ready for a mind-bending journey with the return of Swedish prog legends Kaipa and their latest album, Sommargryningsljus, set to release in June!
Swedish prog legends Kaipa have exciting news for their fans! They have announced the release of their highly anticipated 15th studio album, titled Sommargryningsljus, set to hit the shelves on June 28 through InsideOut Music.
This new album comes nearly half a century after Kaipa’s self-titled debut, with only keyboard player Hans Ludin remaining from the original lineup. Sommargryningsljus, which translates to ‘summer dawn light’, promises a musical journey through dusk and into the light of dawn.
Hans Ludin shared his creative process for this album, revealing, “I had written all the songs for the album, and the total playing time was 70 minutes, but then something unexpected happened. One day, when I was recording with Aleena Gibson, we took a break in my garden. Aleena started singing some notes, and we decided to create a new song on the spot.”
He added, “We were both delighted with the result and knew that this song had to be on the album, with lyrics in Swedish. I developed the song further and created an interlude that perfectly complemented it. The melody just seemed to come to me effortlessly, and the lyrics followed suit.”
Sommargryningsljus will be available in various formats, including a limited CD mediabook with a 24-page booklet, a 12” gatefold 180g 2LP black vinyl, and as a digital album. Fans can already pre-order their copy of Sommargryningsljus through this link: Pre-order Sommargryningsljus.
