Discover YG’s Conflicted Emotions Towards His Latest Album ‘Still Brazy’
YG’s 2016 album, Still Brazy, is widely acclaimed, but the rapper himself has mixed feelings about it. In a chat with fellow West Coast artist ScHoolboy Q on his 4HUNNID Podcast, YG revealed that the album holds certain significance for him, but he was in a dark place while creating it.
Reflecting on the making of Still Brazy, YG shared, “I was in a dark-ass place when I made that album. My album wasn’t even supposed to sound like that. I started recording that album right around the time I got shot. I was just going through all that shit. And then I fell out with the homies. I was in a dark-ass place. I had my newborn daughter but it was just dark.”
Despite the album not being a true reflection of his usual function-friendly personality, YG expressed his respect for Still Brazy. The rapper’s openness about his struggles and emotions during that period sheds light on the depth behind the tracks.
Since starting the 4HUNNID Podcast in February, YG has opened up about various topics, including his attendance at Diddy’s parties. In a recent episode with special guest Devin Haney, the duo discussed their reasons for partying with the embattled music mogul.
For Haney, the allure of Diddy’s parties was the presence of beautiful women, while YG casually mentioned enjoying the social aspect of these gatherings. The relaxed banter between the two showcased a different side of YG outside of his music persona.
Aside from his podcast endeavors, YG’s 4HUNNID label has forged a new partnership with BMG, marking a significant move in his music career. The rapper expressed his excitement about the collaboration, citing BMG’s understanding of his vision and the potential for growth and success in the future.
YG’s journey, from the creation of Still Brazy to his recent business ventures, highlights his evolution as an artist and entrepreneur. His willingness to share personal struggles and triumphs adds depth to his music and brand, resonating with fans on a deeper level.
