Exclusive Release: Metro Boomin and The Alchemist Reveal Limited Edition Kevin Durant Nike Sneakers!
Metro Boomin and The Alchemist have combined their beatmaking skills with their passion for sneakers, collaborating with basketball star Kevin Durant on their own Nike shoe designs. The KD 17 “Metro Boomin” pays tribute to Metro Boomin’s hit album “Heroes & Villains” with a vibrant purple-and-blue color scheme. The tongue of the shoe features a nod to his previous album “Not All Heroes Wear Capes,” and the left heel bears a purple “Leslie” signature in honor of Metro’s late mother.
On the other hand, The Alchemist’s KD 17 “The Alchemist” showcases his ALC Records logo on the tongue and comes in a stylish Coconut Milk colorway with splashes of Atomic Violet and Hyper Grape. These exclusive kicks are part of Durant’s “Producer Series,” highlighting his appreciation for the music producers shaping the culture. Another notable producer, Bink! (known for his work with Kanye West and JAY-Z), also has his own Nike shoe as part of this series.
The Nike KD 17 in the standard “Sunset” colorway is set to release on May 17, with the “Producer Series” styles expected to follow in the upcoming months, priced at $160 each. This collaboration between Metro Boomin, The Alchemist, and Kevin Durant has generated a buzz among fans and sneaker enthusiasts alike, showcasing a fusion of music and sports culture.
While Kevin Durant is known for his love of Hip Hop, he faced online mockery earlier this year after naming Drake’s recent album “Certified Lover Boy” as his favorite album of all time. In a video shared by the Phoenix Suns on Instagram, various players named their most resonant albums, including picks like J. Cole’s “The Off Season,” Young Thug’s “SLIME SEA2ON,” and JAY-Z’s “The Black Album” and “The Blueprint.”
However, Durant’s choice of Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” as his favorite album stirred mixed reactions online, with some fans criticizing his selection. Despite the backlash, Durant’s close friendship with Drake has been well-documented, with the NBA star even receiving an A&R credit on Drake’s latest project, “For All The Dogs.”
During the NBA All-Star Weekend, Durant expressed unwavering support for Drake, emphasizing his role as a confidant and friend to the Canadian artist. The playful banter surrounding Durant’s music preferences adds an amusing twist to the news of his collaboration with Metro Boomin and The Alchemist on the Nike sneaker collection.
