Charlie Puth Claps Back at Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Mention – You Won’t Believe His Response!
Charlie Puth has finally responded to the unexpected shout-out he received from Taylor Swift on her Billboard 200 No. 1 album, The Tortured Poets Department. The “Light Switch” singer took to his Instagram Story to subtly acknowledge Swift’s nod to him on the title track of her album.
Swift had posted a photo of herself in the studio with TTPD written in sharpie on the CD version of the album. In response, Puth shared a studio image of a smiling Swift with the album’s title scrawled across it, showing his appreciation for the kind words. While Puth did not include any sound or message in his Story, the image spoke volumes.
On the song, Swift sings about smoking and eating seven bars of chocolate, declaring that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist. Fans have speculated that the track includes veiled references to Swift’s reported brief fling with The 1975’s Matty Healy in 2023.
Puth’s post came as Swift celebrated the record-setting success of TTPD which marked her 14th debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This achievement ties her with Jay-Z for the most No. 1s among solo artists in the chart’s history, following behind only the Beatles with 19 No. 1 hits.
The Tortured Poets Department racked up 2.61 million equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending April 25, with traditional album sales making up 1.914 million of that figure. Vinyl sales accounted for an impressive 859,000 units, while the deluxe version with 31 tracks generated 891.34 million on-demand official streams.
With the success of Swift’s album and Puth’s gracious acknowledgment, fans of both artists are buzzing with excitement over this unexpected interaction and the undeniable talent of these two music icons.
