The series, titled “Camden,” will delve into the rich music history of London’s iconic borough, known for shaping the global music scene. Executive-produced by Dua Lipa and directed by Asif Kapadia, the four-part documentary promises to take viewers on a journey through Camden’s legendary music venues and its pivotal role in the birth of punk, Britpop, and club culture in the UK.
Camden has been home to legendary artists such as Madness, Amy Winehouse, and Creation Records, and has hosted iconic music venues like The Roundhouse, Koko, Dingwalls, and The Dublin Castle. The docuseries will feature interviews with Coldplay, The Libertines, Little Simz, Boy George, Yungblud, and more, as they share their personal memories of Camden’s music scene.
According to Disney+, “Camden” will uncover the untold stories of how Camden has influenced the lives and careers of some of today’s most iconic music acts. The series will also include interviews with Mark Ronson, Questlove, Chuck D from Public Enemy, and Sister Bliss from Faithless, among others.
The production of “Camden” is in the capable hands of Lightbox, the production company founded by Academy-Award-winning producer Simon Chinn and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn, in association with Day One Pictures co-founded by Amy Winehouse’s original manager, Nick Shymansky, and Radical22. A specific release date for the docuseries has not been announced yet, but music enthusiasts can expect an in-depth exploration of Camden’s music legacy when it premieres on Disney+.
