Rapsody Finally Breaks Silence on Epic J. Cole Vs. Kendrick Lamar Feud!

Rapsody recently shared her perspective on the iconic Kendrick Lamar album, To Pimp a Butterfly, as well as reluctantly commenting on the feud between Lamar and J. Cole. During an appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, the talented lyricist discussed these topics, expressing that her opinion on the beef was not something she typically delved into.

“I try not to speak on these things – the whole thoughts, myself, I mean,” she stated. “But, eh. He’s a man. He made his decision. But if I’m just speaking from me? If I’m in that position? I love this – the spirit of what this is, the sport of what this is.”

Reflecting on her involvement in To Pimp A Butterfly, Rapsody acknowledged the ongoing feud between Lamar and Cole. She shared, “When Cole made his apology, and when he did it, I was like, ‘I would never approach it, going at his discography.’ But the art of war is just…war is war.”

Earlier this month, J. Cole publicly apologized to Kendrick Lamar for his diss track “7 Minute Drill” at the Dreamville Festival. Cole expressed regret about releasing the song and acknowledged his conflicting emotions about the situation.

“I’m so proud of [Might Delete Later], except for one part. It’s one part of that shit that makes me feel like, man that’s the lamest shit I did in my fuckin’ life, right?” Cole admitted to the crowd during his performance.

He continued, “I was conflicted because: one, I know my heart and I know how I feel about my peers. These two n-ggas that I just been blessed to even stand beside in this game, let alone chase they greatness. So I felt conflicted ’cause I’m like, bruh, I don’t even feel no way. But the world wanna see blood.”

Cole went on to praise Kendrick Lamar, calling him one of the greatest artists to ever touch a microphone. He apologized for attempting to downplay Lamar’s talent and expressed his desire to realign with his purpose and path in the music industry.

“All good. It’s love. And I pray that y’all forgive a n-gga for the misstep and I can get back to my true path. Because I ain’t gonna lie to y’all, the past two days felt terrible. It let me know how good I’ve been sleeping for the past 10 years,” Cole confessed.

It’s clear that both Rapsody and J. Cole have deep respect for Kendrick Lamar and have acknowledged their missteps in handling the feud. As they navigate the complexities of the music industry, it’s evident that their intentions are rooted in love and understanding for their fellow artists.
