Rock Legend Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones Watches Foo Fighters Rock the Stage at 2024 New Orleans Jazz Fest

The Rolling Stones took the stage as headliners at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz Heritage & Music Festival on May 2nd. However, the day after their performance, guitarist Ronnie Wood made a surprise appearance at the event to catch a show by the Foo Fighters.

Wood shared a video on his social media platforms capturing the moment from the side of the main stage where he watched the Foo Fighters perform. In the clip, he can be seen enjoying their rendition of the classic song “Learn to Fly” and enthusiastically cheering them on by shouting “Foo Fighters!”

During the Foo Fighters’ set, frontman Dave Grohl mentioned that he had attended The Rolling Stones’ performance the previous day, paying homage to the legendary rock band by declaring, “If there is proof that rock ‘n’ roll is still alive, it’s The Rolling Stones.”

The Foo Fighters also honored their late drummer Taylor Hawkins by performing his favorite song, “Aurora,” and sharing poignant words about his absence, stating, “He always had fun down here. He always had fun everywhere. He would have loved to be here. Maybe he is.”

Wood’s social media post about attending the Foo Fighters’ show garnered various reactions from fans, including his son Jesse who expressed his excitement with emojis. Fans appreciated Wood’s camaraderie and support for his fellow musicians.

Looking ahead, The Rolling Stones and the Foo Fighters both have upcoming tour dates. The Stones will continue their tour in Glendale, Arizona, on May 7, as part of their Hackney Diamonds album tour, while the Foo Fighters will perform in Raleigh, North Carolina, on the same day.

Both bands have concerts scheduled throughout the summer, with The Rolling Stones concluding their tour with a performance in Santa Clara, California, on July 17.
