Watch This Youtuber Put a Rock Twist on Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ with Black Sabbath – You Won’t Believe Your Ears!
Dolly Parton’s classic hit, “Jolene,” has been reimagined in a heavy metal style reminiscent of legendary band Black Sabbath. Moonic Productions, based in Vantaa, Finland, shared their unique take on this country classic last week.
The mastermind behind Moonic Productions is musician and producer Otu Suurmunne. Suurmunne’s previous works include covering songs like Van Halen in the style of Slayer, AC/DC in the style of Pantera, and Europe in the style of Metallica. These creations often go viral, with the Jolene remake garnering over 200,000 views in just eight days.
Despite being best known for her country-pop tracks like Jolene and 9 to 5, Dolly Parton is a huge fan of rock and heavy music. In an interview with Classic Rock, she revealed her husband’s influence on her music taste, stating, “My husband Carl is a big rock fan. We’ve been together for fifty-nine years now, so you can imagine how embedded that is.”
Parton’s latest album, “Rockstar,” pays tribute to the rock ‘n’ roll genre and features covers of artists like Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and Joan Jett. She collaborated with rock icons such as Richie Sambora, Nikki Sixx, and Judas Priest’s Rob Halford for this album.
Rob Halford shared his experience of collaborating with Dolly Parton, reflecting on how they met and their work on the song “Jolene.” Halford expressed his excitement and nerves leading up to the collaboration, emphasizing his admiration for Parton’s iconic style.
Black Sabbath, the iconic heavy metal band, disbanded in 2017, and lead singer Ozzy Osbourne retired from touring due to health issues, including Parkinson’s disease. However, there are talks of Osbourne planning a return to the stage for two farewell shows in Birmingham, UK, according to his wife and manager, Sharon.
