Ari Lennox calls out Rod Wave for failing to protect her from cruel fans – sparks controversy and backlash!

Ari Lennox recently called out Rod Wave for not standing up for her when she faced “evil” and “racist” treatment while opening for him on tour. The Dreamville singer expressed her disappointment in Rod Wave’s lack of support after witnessing a video of Flo Milli being targeted during a performance on Gunna’s Bittersweet Tour in Columbus, Ohio.

Lennox took to her Instagram Stories to show solidarity with Flo Milli, expressing her sympathy for the rapper and condemning the cruelty exhibited by some audience members. She then reflected on her own distressing experience while touring with Rod Wave in 2023, recounting the moment she was hit with a bottle thrown by a member of the audience and criticizing Rod Wave for his silence during the incident.

In a series of candid posts, Lennox revealed her feelings of abandonment and the impact of rejection on her mental health. She highlighted the contrast between her positive experiences touring with other artists and the negativity she encountered while on Rod Wave’s tour. Despite acknowledging her role in some of the challenges she faced, Lennox emphasized the need for respect and protection for opening acts in the music industry.

The singer made a firm decision to never open for another artist again, urging headliners to prioritize the safety and well-being of their opening acts. Lennox emphasized the importance of ending the cycle of disrespect and violence towards Black women in the music industry, calling for a change in attitudes and behaviors towards performers.

Reflecting on her past statements about the tour in January, Lennox shared her struggles with feeling out of place and disconnected from the audience during her performances. She explained the emotional toll the experience took on her, describing it as a lonely and challenging period in her career.

In her Instagram Live broadcast, Lennox clarified that her issues were not with Rod Wave himself but with his fans, who exhibited hostility and aggression towards her during shows. Despite trying to engage with the audience, Lennox faced resistance and negativity, leading her to feel isolated and unsupported on stage.

Throughout her revelations, Lennox emphasized the need for mutual respect and understanding within the music industry, particularly towards Black women artists who often face discrimination and mistreatment. By sharing her story and advocating for change, she hopes to raise awareness and promote a more inclusive and supportive environment for all performers.

As of now, Rod Wave has not publicly responded to Lennox’s statements regarding her time on tour with him. The issue highlights the challenges faced by artists, particularly marginalized groups, in navigating the music industry and the importance of standing together against discrimination and injustice.
