Drummer from Converge teasing upcoming album as their best work yet, drawing comparisons to Fugazi, The Mars Volta, and Entombed – the anticipation is killing us!

The latest update from Converge drummer Ben Koller has sent fans into a frenzy as he compared the band’s upcoming album to a mix of influences ranging from punks Fugazi to death metal outfit Entombed. Koller took to social media to share his excitement about the new material, hinting that this could be their best album yet.

Describing the abundance of new Converge material, Koller likened it to being at an “Old Country metalcore Buffet” where all the offerings are “RIFFS.” This diversity in the music was emphasized as he mentioned elements like crowdkilling, mathcore madness, and even slow riffs where he accidentally played too fast.

According to Koller’s tweets, the upcoming album is a fusion of various sounds, drawing inspiration from bands like The Mars Volta and Fugazi. Despite the eclectic mix, he acknowledged that the new material has the potential to surpass their previous work, jokingly suggesting they should consider dropping any “shitty riffs.”

When asked how the new music compares to their 2006 album “No Heroes,” Koller confessed that this feels like the most evolved and natural material they have ever written. He expressed difficulty in directly comparing it to their past albums, as the music from “No Heroes” now feels like a distant memory compared to the fresh sound they are working on.

Last year, Koller teased that the new Converge album features the heaviest riff they have ever composed, building anticipation among fans. Guitarist Kurt Ballou added to the buzz by mentioning that he is uncertain about the release timeframe, but hinted that the album will likely be produced at his studio in Massachusetts, where they have recorded since their 1998 album.

Collaborator Chelsea Wolfe revealed plans for a sequel to their collaboration album “Bloodmoon: I,” hinting at a potential follow-up project. She expressed uncertainty about her involvement but confirmed ongoing discussions about creating “Bloodmoon 2” in the future.

As Converge gears up for the release of their highly anticipated album, they have already lined up a series of tour dates for 2024. Fans can catch the band at various locations around the world, including Romania, Germany, France, and Mexico. The tour culminates with a final show in Brazil, offering an exciting opportunity for fans to experience the new material live.

The excitement surrounding Converge’s upcoming album is palpable, with the band poised to deliver a fresh and innovative sound that pushes boundaries and defies genre conventions. Stay tuned for more updates on their musical journey as they continue to captivate audiences with their unique blend of metalcore and experimental influences.
