Megan Thee Stallion is gearing up for her upcoming Hot Girl Summer Tour with the release of her new single, “BOA,” set to drop this Friday (May 10).
Recently, Megan took to Instagram to unveil the cover art for her new single, featuring her posing alongside a snake. This serpent symbol has been a recurring theme in Megan’s recent projects, starting with her Billboard Hot 100 hit “Hiss” and continuing in her 2023 track “Cobra.”
In a cover story for Women’s Health in April, Megan discussed her upcoming album and described it as a journey of “rebirth” as she enters a new chapter in her career, both physically and mentally.
This new album will mark Megan’s first release since the legal sentencing of Tory Lanez to 10 years following a 2020 case where he was found guilty of shooting the rapper multiple times in the feet during an altercation in Hollywood.
Reflecting on her past experiences, Megan shared, “A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time. I feel like everybody was always used to me being the fun and happy party girl. I watched people build me up, tear me down, and be confused about their expectations of me. As a Black woman, as a darker Black woman, I also feel like people expect me to take the punches, take the beating, take the lashings, and handle it with grace. But I’m human.”
Next week, Megan will embark on her first-ever headlining tour, starting in Minnesota on Tuesday (May 14). Accompanying her as an opening act will be GloRilla, with whom Megan recently collaborated on the single “Wanna Be.”
