Step Inside the Exclusive and Exciting Standard Boom Boom Room Experience!
Welcome to the world of music and fashion, where the glamorous and exclusive Met Gala afterparties take center stage. As the clock strikes 2 a.m. ET, FKA Twigs stands tall on the bar at The Standard’s Boom Boom Room, gazing out at the crowd of guests celebrating the first Monday in May, also known as the day of the Met Gala.
The Met Gala is the epitome of cultural events, where fashion and art collide in spectacular ways. But it’s the afterparties that truly steal the show. The Boom Boom Room in the Meatpacking District is renowned for hosting the most chaotic and cool gatherings following the gala.
Entering the scene, I was greeted by towering displays of fresh flowers to fit the party’s theme of “The Garden of Time.” Guests in plant-inspired attire began to arrive around midnight, imbuing the air with the scent of lilacs.
Columbia Records artists Lil Nas X and Camila Cabello made a grand entrance, with Cabello turning heads in a stunning 15-pound dress adorned with 250,000 crystals. She also took the opportunity to announce her upcoming album, C,XOXO.
The star-studded crowd at The Standard included the likes of Sam Smith, Moses Sumney, and Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos with his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez. Other notable guests included A$AP Ferg, Lourdes Leon, and Tony Award-winner Alex Newell.
The party scene buzzed with activity as Usher hosted a “Secret Garden” themed bash and Cardi B threw her own afterparty at Casa Cipriani. Stella McCartney’s event drew in Rita Ora and Shakira, creating a star-studded affair.
Inside the Boom Boom Room, FKA Twigs marked the venue’s 25th anniversary of hosting Met Gala parties by previewing two unreleased tracks. Accompanied by British DJ Koreless, Twigs serenaded the crowd with pulsating beats and heartfelt lyrics.
As the night drew to a close, Twigs expressed her gratitude to the audience, thanking them for their support throughout her musical journey. Just a week prior, she was advocating against the dangers of AI in front of the U.S. Senate.
By 3 a.m. ET, the party officially wrapped up, leaving behind tipsy stragglers and the remnants of the evening’s festivities. As the cleanup commenced and petals from the flowers scattered on the floor, the city began to ponder what next year’s Met Gala and afterparties would hold.
As we reflect on the magical night of music, fashion, and celebration, FKA Twigs’ performance at the Boom Boom Room serves as a reminder of the beauty and power of artistic expression.
