Stunning Shakira Steals the Show in Bold Red at 2024 Met Gala
Shakira made her dazzling Met Gala debut in a simple-yet-stunning red column dress that drew all eyes to her. The dress featured a slit and a dramatic long cape made with almost 100 meters of fabric that resembled a rose, adding the wow factor to her look. Created by Carolina Herrera’s creative director Wes Gordon, the sleek outfit with geometric cutouts perfectly captured the theme of the event, “The Garden of Time.”
According to Vogue, Wes Gordon spent the past few months collaborating with the Colombian superstar to create the perfect look for her Met Gala debut. He emphasized that the focus was on making Shakira feel like the best version of herself, paying meticulous attention to details like cutouts, neckline, and how the dress complemented her movements as a physical performer.
Shakira’s appearance at the Met Gala on May 6 came shortly after she announced the first leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, named after her latest album. The tour, her first since 2018’s El Dorado, will kick off on November 2 in Palm Desert, California, with stops in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Chicago, and other North American cities.
This year’s Met Gala exhibit theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, will showcase 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The exhibit will present these works in innovative ways, incorporating elements like video animation, CGI, AI, and more.
The 2024 Met Gala was co-hosted by Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, and Chris Hemsworth. Other Latin music stars in attendance included Rosalía, Omar Apollo, Rauw Alejandro, Cardi B, and Camila Cabello.
