Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, Usher, Sabrina Carpenter, and many more stars lit up New York City on Monday (May 7) for the highly anticipated Met Gala, the fashion event of the year. This year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” inspired attendees to grace the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in stunning floral gowns, creatively tailored suits, and wearable sculptures, all fitting the “Garden of Time” dress code set by Anna Wintour and co-chairs Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth.
Lana Del Rey appeared as a glamorous woodland nymph in a custom Alexander McQueen creation, while Tyla embodied a human hourglass in a Balmain outfit designed to resemble sand. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande dazzled in two breathtaking gowns, first in a mother-of-pearl dress by Loewe and later during the gala in an ethereal Maison Margiela Artisanal costume where she also delivered a mesmerizing mini-concert. Grande later expressed her gratitude on Instagram for the special experience of performing at the Met Museum.
The gala not only showcased incredible fashion but also celebrated the opening of the Met Museum’s new exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Each year, the event serves as a fundraiser for the museum’s costume institute and marks the premiere of a new fashion exhibit.
