Watch DUFF MCKAGAN Unveil Exclusive VELVET REVOLVER Book in Exciting Unboxing Video By Renowned Artist ROSS HALFIN!
Welcome to the world of rock n’ roll, where legendary musicians come together to create magic. Velvet Revolver, a supergroup formed by members of Guns N’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, defied all odds and left an indelible mark on the music scene with their raw energy and incredible talent.
Duff McKagan, the bassist known for his time with both Velvet Revolver and Guns N’ Roses, recently shared an unboxing video that gives fans a glimpse into the band’s history. In the video, McKagan reflects on the band’s journey and the impact they had on the rock genre.
“Velvet Revolver was borne at a time when there just wasn’t much rock n’ roll happening out in the world. To the point, that it was even being bandied about here and there, that ‘rock n roll is dead!’. We thought otherwise,” McKagan shared.
The term ‘supergroup’ is often associated with bands formed by established musicians from other successful groups. While many of these collaborations fizzle out quickly, Velvet Revolver proved to be an exception. With founding members Slash and Duff McKagan at the helm, the band rose to stardom in the early 2000s.
After the disbandment of Guns N’ Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, members found themselves searching for a new creative outlet. Velvet Revolver was born out of this collective desire to create music that resonated with fans across the world. Their debut album, ‘Contraband’, released in 2004, soared to the top of the charts and solidified their place in rock history.
Following the success of ‘Contraband’, Velvet Revolver released ‘Libertad’ in 2007, further showcasing their musical prowess and stage presence. Despite internal conflicts and external pressures, the band continued to captivate audiences with their electrifying performances.
Photographer Ross Halfin was there every step of the way, capturing the essence of Velvet Revolver in his stunning photographs. Now, a new coffee table book curated by Rufus celebrates the band’s legacy with a limited edition release.
