Iman Shumpert was thirsting over estranged wife Teyana Taylor’s red carpet look at the 2024 Met Gala despite the messy split they’re currently embroiled in. The event took place on Monday (May 6) and this year’s theme was “The Garden of Time” in celebration of the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Teyana perfectly embodied the theme with a bed head-inspired blonde braid and a stunning red dress adorned with flowers.
As photos and videos of her arrival circulated online, Iman couldn’t help but share a subliminal message directed towards Teyana. “Yeah you ate…but I ain’t tellin you that shit,” he wrote. When a fan urged him to “keep it 100,” the former basketball player clarified, “lol it was a cute way to say she kilt it. But people don’t laugh enough in life.”
Teyana Taylor filed for divorce in January 2023, long before the former couple officially announced their separation in September. In her divorce filing, Taylor requested primary custody of their children, joint legal custody, child support, and accused Shumpert of cruel and narcissistic behavior throughout their marriage.
She also alleged that Shumpert was emotionally and mentally abusive towards her and had cheated on her multiple times during their relationship. Despite her initial statement that infidelity wasn’t a reason for their split, she detailed instances of Shumpert’s misconduct, including crashing her Rolls-Royce and leaving the scene to avoid arrest, displaying jealousy when she was in the spotlight, and discouraging her from working.
In response to these claims, Iman Shumpert denied the allegations and insisted that Teyana lacked evidence to support her accusations. He is seeking to have their reason for divorce changed to an “irretrievable broken bond” according to TMZ.
