Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” Performance Edit Breaks Billion Views Record!
Sia has now achieved a remarkable feat by entering YouTube’s billion views club twice with the same song, “Cheap Thrills.” Six years after reaching this milestone with the original music video, the elusive singer has accomplished this feat once again with the dance-focused “Performance Edit” video for her 2015 hit.
Posted in 2016, the “Cheap Thrills (Performance Edit)” video features a trio of dancers led by Maddie Ziegler, who is a frequent collaborator with Sia on her music videos. The dancers showcase complex contemporary choreography against a vibrant purple backdrop. Meanwhile, Sia herself can be seen in the corner singing into a microphone, with her face mostly hidden behind her iconic oversized wig.
The catchy lyrics of the song resonate as Sia belts out, “Baby, I don’t need dollar bills to have fun tonight. I don’t need no money as long as I can feel the beat. I don’t need no money as long as I keep dancing.”
This new video has now joined the ranks of the original “Cheap Thrills” visual, which crossed the billion views mark in 2018. The track, a single from Sia’s album “This Is Acting,” ruled the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four weeks back in 2016.
Notably, Sia’s previous music videos that have garnered billion views status include “Elastic Heart” and “Chandelier,” both of which feature Maddie Ziegler. Additionally, “Titanium” with David Guetta and “Dusk Till Dawn” with Zayn have also achieved this milestone.
This latest news about “Cheap Thrills” reaching a billion views comes hot on the heels of the release of Sia’s new album, “Reasonable Woman,” which was dropped on May 3. The album features exciting collaborations with the likes of Chaka Khan, Kylie Minogue, Labrinth, and Paris Hilton. With 15 tracks, this album marks Sia’s return to the pop music scene since “This Is Acting.”
