Unveiling a Hidden Gem: Blue Öyster Cult Pays Tribute to The Beatles in New Release
Welcome to Music Nation 365, where we bring you the latest news and updates from the world of music! Today, we have an exciting scoop for all rock music enthusiasts – legendary band Blue Öyster Cult has released a previously unseen video of their acoustic performance of The Beatles’ iconic 1964 single “If I Fell.”
The footage, shot in April 2016 at Red Studios, Hollywood, was captured on the same day the band filmed the DVD release of “Agents of Fortune: 40th Anniversary Live.” According to the band, the decision not to use the video at the time was revisited, leading to its release now. The audio underwent a ‘demix/remix’ treatment while the video was processed in monochrome as a nod to The Beatles’ film “A Hard Day’s Night.”
This exclusive video comes hot on the heels of Blue Öyster Cult’s latest studio album, “Ghost Stories,” which hit the shelves last month. The album features tracks originally recorded between 1978 and 1983, along with covers like The MC5’s “Kick Out The Jams,” The Doors’ “Roadhouse Blues,” and The Animals’ “We Gotta Get out of This Place.” Guitarist Richie Castellano shared insights on the album’s creation process, revealing the use of AI demixing software to separate elements from the original tapes for mixing.
Castellano, a member of The Band Geeks, is also collaborating with former Yes frontman Jon Anderson on his upcoming studio album “TRUE.” Blue Öyster Cult’s affinity for The Beatles is evident in their past stage covers of classics like “I Want You/She’s So Heavy,” “I Need You,” “Think For Yourself,” “Blackbird,” “Birthday,” and “When I’m 64.”
