Rock Legends Unite: Slash Secures Brian Johnson and Steven Tyler for Epic Collaboration

Legendary guitarist Slash is set to release his highly anticipated blues album, ‘Orgy of the Damned,’ featuring an impressive lineup of superstar collaborators. The album, which consists of 12 tracks, showcases 11 classic blues renditions with guest performances by renowned artists like Gary Clark Jr., Dorothy, Billy Gibbons, Brian Johnson, Demi Lovato, and Iggy Pop, to name a few.

One of the standout collaborations on the album is the track “Killing Floor,” a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s song, where both Brian Johnson and Steven Tyler make appearances. Johnson takes on lead vocals, displaying his powerful voice, while Tyler adds his signature blues harmonica solo and additional vocals to the mix. Slash shared in an interview that the blend of the two songs, “Killing Floor” and “Rockin’ Daddy,” adds a unique twist to the track.

Speaking about working with Johnson, Slash expressed his admiration for the AC/DC frontman’s dedication to the project. He mentioned, “He just sang it with this certain kind of soul and this whole delivery that was keeping in line with the Howlin’ Wolf version, but it was a type of singing that I’d never heard him do before.”

Following his collaboration with Johnson, Slash met with Steven Tyler, who contributed his harmonica skills and vocals to the same track. Tyler’s impromptu performance added a special touch to the song, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

The album, ‘Orgy of the Damned,’ is scheduled for release on May 17, with Slash embarking on his ‘S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival 2024’ tour beginning on July 5. The tour will feature a diverse lineup of blues, soul, and roots acts, all curated by Slash himself. The festival aims to spread a positive message by supporting various charities that focus on racial equality, mental health awareness, and helping marginalized communities.

Slash emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the festival, stating, “I wanted to make this very all-inclusive — so all genders, all races, all religions, all nationalities, to just get people together and be together for a day just to enjoy some really great music. That’s the premise. I think we’ll be able to pull it off.”
