Experience the Powerful Collaboration of Lacuna Coil and Ash Costello in Their Heavy New Single, In The Mean Time
Lacuna Coil, the Italian goth metal act, recently released a heavy new single titled “In The Mean Time,” featuring Ash Costello of New Years Day. The band described the track as a form of “group therapy” addressing the perceived meanness of the modern world. In a statement, they expressed their thoughts on the current state of society, emphasizing the unhappiness, loneliness, anxiety, and destructiveness prevalent in today’s world.
The band’s message in “In The Mean Time” focuses on the idea that society has lost its way, leading to a sense of disillusionment and difficulty in seeing things clearly amidst external pressures. Lacuna Coil views the track as a form of collective healing, acknowledging that once broken, it can be challenging to rebuild oneself. They emphasize the importance of shifting focus away from toxic environments and discovering the beauty and positivity that life has to offer, even when things seem out of alignment.
Collaborating with Ash Costello on the single was a significant moment for Lacuna Coil, with the band expressing their excitement over her contribution. Costello, in turn, spoke highly of working with lead vocalist Cristina Scabbia, calling “In The Mean Time” her favorite Lacuna Coil song. She resonated with the song’s message of embracing individuality and nonconformity.
Following the release of “In The Mean Time,” Lacuna Coil and New Years Day are set to embark on a tour of the United States, beginning on May 2nd with support from Oceans Of Slumber. Additionally, Lacuna Coil will be touring the UK in October, joined by Blind Channel as the supporting act.
While “In The Mean Time” is a standalone single, Lacuna Coil vocalist Cristina Scabbia hinted at the possibility of a new album in 2024. The band is already in the process of writing new music, with plans to potentially release an album in the coming years.
Lacuna Coil’s most recent studio album, “Black Anima,” was released in 2019. In 2022, the band treated fans to a special 20th-anniversary re-recording of the beloved album “Comalies.”
