The band described the track as a form of “group therapy” addressing the perceived meanness of the modern world. In a statement, they expressed their thoughts on the current state of society, emphasizing the unhappiness, loneliness, anxiety, and destructiveness prevalent in today’s world.
The band’s message in “In The Mean Time” focuses on the idea that society has lost its way, leading to a sense of disillusionment and difficulty in seeing things clearly amidst external pressures.
