Cam’ron Fans Demand New Album Release Following Exciting ‘It Is What It Is’ Freestyle
Cam’ron fans are eagerly waiting for the Dipset legend to drop a new album after he wowed them with his latest It Is What It Is freestyle. The renowned “Welcome to New York” rapper delivered the freestyle to kick off season four of his sports talk show, which he co-hosts with Ma$e. Rapping over a captivating beat from GetLarge, Killa Cam impressed fans with slick rhymes like, “check my shoes before I put them on, I don’t trust a sole/soul.”
The freestyle received a wave of positive feedback online, sparking demands for Cam to hit the studio since it has been five years since his last album release. Fans flooded social media with comments like, “Nah fam! We need an album,” and “We need the it is what it is mixtape with all these joints,” referring to his previous It Is What It Is freestyles.
Even DJ Clue, who was mentioned in the freestyle, showed his support by exclaiming, “Let’s Goooooo Killa!” Despite his absence from the album scene since 2019’s quietly dropped Purple Haze 2, Cam’ron has been actively creating music. In 2021, he released the mixtape The Lost Files Vol. 1, featuring eight tracks and a collaboration with Styles P. The following year, he teamed up with A-Trak for the project U Wasn’t There.
In a recent teaser, Cam hinted at releasing new music with his It Is What It Is co-host Ma$e, creating more excitement among fans. In an interview with GQ earlier this year, he mentioned potential plans for a tour with Ma$e, sharing, “Ma$e comes back from tour January 20, so maybe around the end of February or March, we’ll take the show on the road.” He also revealed that he and Ma$e have already worked on a few songs together, hinting at a possible future release.
Additionally, Cam’ron surprised fans with a new track, “Last Stop,” produced by Swizz Beatz as part of a marketing campaign for Kith. The song showcased Killa Cam’s distinctive flow and style, perfectly complementing the vibrant theme of the collection. Ronnie Fieg, the founder of Kith, explained why he chose Cam’ron for the collaboration, stating that Cam’s aesthetic and sound aligned perfectly with the vision he had for the project.
