Discover how Tiffany Haddish’s 6-month sobriety led to a life-changing decision!
Tiffany Haddish has recently attributed her period of sobriety to staying away from physical pleasures. In a revealing interview with PEOPLE that was released on April 24, the comedian and occasional rapper admitted that her life has been challenging lately. However, she is actively working on improving herself and has noticed some unexpected positive outcomes from abstaining from alcohol.
“I’m very sober,” Haddish shared with the outlet. “I haven’t had a drink since [her DUI arrest]. When I reflect on my life, all the crazy things that have happened were because either I or someone else had alcohol in their system.”
Opening up about her past habit of engaging in sexual activities after consuming alcohol, she explained, “They go hand in hand. My problem was waking up next to unattractive men. Alcohol made my brain say, ‘You’re horny, let’s do it.’ I would then respond with ‘No, I’m not interested.’”
In December, Tiffany Haddish confronted rumors suggesting that she was “spinning out of control” following her recent DUI arrest. Despite being taken into custody for her second DUI in two years over Thanksgiving, speculations peaked after she posted a photo shoot on her Instagram on December 17.
In response to concerns that the photo shoot may have been a cry for help, she reassured her followers that she is doing well and enjoying her break. Dismissing the notion of spiraling out of control in an Instagram Live session on December 18, she asserted, “I have nothing but love for all of you – even those who believe I’m spiraling downward. There’s no downward spiral happening here. Just some self-reflection. God is cleansing and awakening me. It’s time to wake up! I’m awake! And it feels amazing. Setting new boundaries, new restrictions.”
She continued, “No more enabling those who don’t help themselves. No more being too nice. No more trying to save everyone. Yes, my hair color is in memory of my grandmother. This was her color. I’m honoring her. Don’t enable those who cannot help themselves. And if you thought I was in jail, I’m not. I’m enjoying paradise on earth. You won’t find me anywhere near you without a price. Period. I’ll catch up with you all later. Bye.”
