Rolling Stones Rock Houston: Don’t Miss Their Electric Start to US Tour!
The iconic rock band, The Rolling Stones, kicked off their latest tour in Houston, Texas, showing no signs of slowing down even after more than 60 years in the music industry. With frontman Sir Mick Jagger and lead guitarist Keith Richards now both 80 years old, and guitarist Ronnie Wood at 76, the band proves that age is just a number when it comes to rocking out.
Despite their age, The Rolling Stones delivered a vibrant two-hour performance in Houston, exuding energy as if they were a young band on tour for the first time. The stadium was electrified as Jagger took the stage and expressed his excitement to be back in the Lone Star State. The band’s production director, Dale Skjerseth, commented on the band’s energy, saying, “The age doesn’t show.”
The band hit the road again to support their latest record, “Hackney Diamonds,” which marked their first album of original music since 2005. The Houston show was the first stop on their 16-city tour across the US and Canada. Looking ahead, Jagger mentioned the possibility of bringing the tour to Europe after completing the North American leg.
During the concert, The Rolling Stones treated the audience to an 18-song setlist, featuring tracks from their new record along with timeless classics like “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Honky Tonk Women,” and “Start Me Up.” The band also surprised fans with unexpected choices, such as performing “Out of Time” from 1966, a song never before played in the US.
When asked about retirement before the tour, Richards playfully responded, “My answer is I’m not Nostradamus. Of course, it’s going to end sometime, but there’s no particular rush. We’re having great fun doing this.” The Rolling Stones continue to captivate audiences worldwide with their timeless music and unparalleled stage presence, proving that true rock legends never fade.
