Chart-Toppers Unveiled: Meet the Artists Dominating the Billboard Hot 100 with the Most No. 1 Hits!
31,000 songs have reached the Billboard Hot 100 in its 65-year history, with only 1,170 obtaining the coveted No. 1 spot. This accounts for a mere 3.7% of all songs on the chart as of March 4, 2024.
Among these No. 1 hits, achieving the top spot multiple times is a remarkable accomplishment. Only 11 artists in history have managed to secure the No. 1 position a remarkable 10 times.
This elite group consists of nine solo artists and two groups. Topping the list are The Beatles, with an impressive 20 No. 1 hits – the most since surpassing Elvis Presley in 1965.
Elvis Presley, notably absent from the top 10 list, held seven No. 1 hits during the Hot 100 era. His career began before the inception of the Hot 100 chart on August 4, 1958, with classics like “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Hound Dog,” and “Jailhouse Rock” predating the chart’s existence. Nonetheless, he managed to reach No. 1 with songs like “A Big Hunk O’ Love,” “Stuck on You,” and “Suspicious Minds.”
Just shy of the 10 No. 1 hits club are artists like Bee Gees, Beyoncé, Elton John, Katy Perry, Paul McCartney (solo and with Wings), and Usher, all with nine chart-topping hits. Meanwhile, artists like Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, George Michael, and The Rolling Stones have each secured eight No. 1 songs.
