Introducing Slipknot’s Explosive New Drummer, Eloy Casagrande!
Breaking news from the world of metal! Slipknot has officially announced their new drummer, and it’s none other than former Sepultura member Eloy Casagrande. This revelation was made on the band’s Instagram page, along with a glimpse of their updated outfits and masks.
Joining Slipknot in February, Casagrande took over the drumming duties from Jay Weinberg, who was dismissed from the band in November 2023. The departure was described as a creative decision by Slipknot, which prompted Weinberg to express feeling “heartbroken and blindsided.” Weinberg has since moved on to drum for US thrash metal group Suicidal Tendencies.
On the other hand, Casagrande left Sepultura abruptly in February, just before the start of the band’s farewell tour. The timing of his departure fueled rumors of him joining Slipknot, especially after the band posted a photo of a broken drumstick on Instagram, hinting at their rehearsal with a new drummer. It was later confirmed that the drumstick was from Promark, a brand that Casagrande endorses.
Slipknot’s first performance with Casagrande took place on April 25, where they also revealed their new masks and played a setlist featuring tracks from their 1999 self-titled debut album. The band continued to rock the stage at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas on April 27.
Looking ahead, Slipknot is gearing up for a European tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their debut album. The band plans to perform the entire album live, with support from Bleed From Within. Additionally, they will be making appearances at various North American festivals, including a headline show at Knotfest Iowa in September.
