Calibre 50 Makes History with 25th Consecutive Regional Mexican Airplay No. 1 Hit!

Calibre 50 continues to dominate Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart with their hit single “DĂas Buenos, DĂas Malos” climbing from No. 7 to claim the top spot on the list dated May 4. This achievement marks the Sinaloan group’s 25th No. 1 hit, further solidifying their status as chart-topping artists.

According to Luminate, “DĂas Buenos, DĂas Malos” garnered 7.1 million audience impressions in the U.S. during the tracking week ending on April 25, showing a 33% increase in audience from the previous week. The song also earned the title of Greatest Gainer, given to the song with the largest spike in plays among the top 40 titles on the chart. The previous week’s No. 1 track, “First Love” by Oscar Ortiz and Edgardo Nuñez, slipped to the second position with 6.9 million in audience, down by 13%.

“DĂas Buenos, DĂas Malos” achieved its journey to the top spot in just 13 weeks, debuting at No. 20 in February. This ties the song with three other tracks that also took 13 weeks or more to reach the summit over the past year.

Here’s a recap of the songs that required the most weeks to reach No. 1 on the chart, as of April 2023:

  • 13 weeks – “Bipolar” by Peso Pluma, Jasiel Nuñez & Junior H (Peak Date: Nov. 25, 2023)
  • 13 weeks – “SegĂşn QuiĂ©n” by Maluma & CarĂn LeĂłn (Peak Date: Dec. 16, 2023)
  • 13 weeks – “Vas A Querer Volver” by Banda Los Recoditos (Peak Date: Jan. 6, 2023)
  • 13 weeks – “DĂas Buenos, DĂas Malos” by Calibre 50 (Peak Date: May 4, 2023)

With “DĂas Buenos” reigning over the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, Calibre 50 solidifies their appeal with an impressive total of 25 chart-toppers, surpassing their closest competitor, Banda MS, who have 19 No. 1 hits since the chart’s inception in 1994.

Notably, dating back to 2013 when Calibre 50 claimed their first No. 1 with “Ni Que Estuvieras Tan Buena,” all of their chart-topping hits, except for “Decepciones” with Alejandro Fernández in 2020, have been solo efforts.

In addition to their success on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, “DĂas Buenos” propels Calibre 50 to their 28th top 10 appearance on the overall Latin Airplay chart. The song rises from No. 14 to No. 7, surpassing Marco Antonio Solis to hold the record for the most No. 1 hits among regional Mexican artists overall.
