Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, continues to dominate the music scene as it holds onto the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart for the second consecutive week. Despite an 83% decline in sales, the album still managed to earn an impressive 439,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending May 2nd. This marks one of the biggest second-week performances since Adele’s record-breaking album, 25.
Joining Taylor Swift in the top 10 is PARTYNEXTDOOR, whose album PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4) debuts at number 10. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, including album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums.
Of Taylor Swift’s second-week unit total of 439,000, streaming equivalent albums accounted for 330,000, traditional album sales for 107,000, and track equivalent albums for 2,000. The rest of the top four titles on the Billboard 200 consists of former number one albums such as Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time, Future and Metro Boomin’s We Don’t Trust You, BeyoncĂ©’s Cowboy Carter, and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season.
Morgan Wallen’s album Dangerous: The Double Album made a significant climb from 11 to 6 on the chart, while Benson Boone’s Fireworks & Rollerblades and SZA’s SOS maintained their positions in the top 10. Closing out the top 10 is PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 (P4), marking the third top 10-charting album for the singer/songwriter and producer.
