World’s Best Whistler stuns with epic rendition of Sweet Child O’ Mine guitar solo!
Guns N’ Roses classic, “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” has been covered numerous times, but none quite like the recent rendition by self-proclaimed “world’s best whistler” Ralph ‘Whistler’ Giese. The Detroit musician has taken the internet by storm with his unique version of the song, showcasing his exceptional talent in whistling.
In a video that has gone viral, Ralph delivers Slash’s iconic guitar solo with a surprising sweetness that contradicts his initial grumpiness. “Some guy asked me to whistle this one here a couple of days ago,” Ralph explains reluctantly before diving into the guitar solo of “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
“I was a blues man when this shit came out,” Ralph muses while reflecting on the song’s release. “Rock’n’ roll was so messed up back then.”
Ralph’s whistling is truly like nothing you’ve ever heard before. It’s as if a choir of birds has found a home in his throat, enhancing the original melody with layers of saccharine beauty.
Instagram commenters were equally bewildered and impressed by Ralph’s performance. “How can you act so tough and then do something like that?” wonders franki3lee. Ralph’s response? “You just worry about your side of the street,” delivered somewhat ominously.
But Ralph is no stranger to showcasing his whistling skills. As a child, he appeared on the Johnny Carson show and left the studio audience in awe with his rendition of Hoagy Carmichael’s “Georgia On My Mind” on the Detroit public access show, Kelly & Company, in 1984.
More recently, Ralph teamed up with Brian ‘Muddy’ Sprung to form the band Whistlers Muthers. Promising a “fun-filled performance and debauchery,” it’s safe to say they are probably not the best choice for children’s parties.
