Cam’ron and Ma$e Declare Kendrick Lamar Victorious in Epic Beef Showdown with Drake
Kendrick Lamar has emerged as the clear winner in his bitter feud with Drake, according to Camâron and Ma$e. The rappers turned sports personalities chewed over the latest round of diss records on their show It Is What It Is on Monday (May 6) following an eventful weekend that produced four explosive songs.
When asked who he thinks is winning the battle, Killa Cam replied: âRight now, man, Iâma be honest, Kendrick Lamar.â The Dipset legend went on to criticize Drakeâs most recent effort, âThe Heart Part 6,â which he interpreted as the 6 God waving the white flag. âI donât like what Drake dropped last night because it wasnât bad but I donât like the way that it ended,â he said. âIt seemed like he was [saying], âThis is the last one Iâm doing.ââYou canât end it when you just want to end it. Heâs all, âIâm tired of doing this,â this, that and the third. I just think that you shouldnât have ended it like that. You gotta keep going.â
Ma$e concurred, praising Kendrickâs one-two combo of âMeet the Grahamsâ and âNot Like Usâ â even though he feels they shouldâve been unleashed before the Compton rapperâs initial response record âEuphoria.â âIâm going with Kendrick as well. It seemed like whatever he started out doing, he picked up the speed â pause â and really did what he was supposed to do,â he said. âI thought the last record that he did [âNot Like Usâ] was the one. He shouldâve done it a little bit earlier. âI wouldâve started with âMeet the Grahamsâ then I wouldâve went into âNot Like Us.â That was crazy. When I heard that, I was like, âOh yeah, itâs gonna be tough.â That was the one I was expecting.â
Camâron was also impressed by âNot Like Us,â particularly its dance-friendly sound which has allowed Kendrick to compete with Drake in the clubs. ââMeet the Grahams,â I thought it was good but [Drakeâs âFamily Mattersâ] â they played that in the club, and âMeet the Grahamsâ you couldnât really play in the club,â he said. âWhen n-ggas went out that night, they played âFamily Mattersâ like 10 times back to back in the club. So when Kendrick came with an upbeat one, they played that in the club like 10 times in a row. âAnd the one Drake just dropped [âThe Heart Part 6â], it was kinda slow, it seemed like he donât want to do it no more â pause. I just donât like the way it ended. But like you said, Murda, weâll see, to be continued. But it donât seem like Drake wanna battle no more.â
Camâron and Ma$eâs stance represents a sharp U-turn from last week when they both gave Drake the nod over Kendrick Lamar following their earlier diss songs, âPush Upsâ and âEuphoria.â âDrake is definitely winning from an MC standpoint,â the latter claimed. âIt took a while for us to get the record from Kendrick and when you wait a while, it gotta be outta this world.â He added: âIt was a good record [but] we didnât wait a while for a good record [âŠ] Itâs a certain thing you gotta have in the record that Kendrick doesnât have in his record. You gotta say something that make n-ggas look at the n-gga different. And when he did the, âI donât want to hear you say n-gga,â that was an angle that we already heard before.â
Cam echoed his co-hostâs sentiment by saying Kendrickâs song âdidnât really move [him]â and took too long to come out. The pair were later forced to defend their opinions after facing backlash online.
