Dolly Parton and Blessing Offor Collaborate on Heartfelt ‘Somebody’s Child’ Music Video – Must See!
Dolly Parton is taking a deep dive into the world of CCM/gospel once again, this time joining forces with Blessing Offor, the talented artist behind the hit song “Brighter Days,” for his latest track titled “Somebody’s Child.” An emotional and soulful piano ballad, the song touches on themes of finding solace and a sense of belonging in faith.
Two-time Grammy nominee Offor, who recently wrapped up the first leg of his shows opening for Lauren Daigle’s national tour, co-wrote the poignant piano ballad with Joy Williams and Josh Ronen. The accompanying music video, which features Offor and Parton, begins with Offor at the piano, pouring his heart out through his music. As the song progresses, he is joined by Parton and a choir, adding to the emotional depth of the performance. The video also includes real-world footage showing moments of joy and struggle, emphasizing the importance of compassion and empathy in our daily lives.
Reflecting on the song, Blessing shared, “We’re all ‘somebody’s child.’ It’s a simple concept, but I hope it serves as a reminder for all of us to find common ground and empathy in our interactions. And who better to embody this message of relatability than Dolly Parton. I am incredibly honored and humbled to have her on board for this project.”
Earlier this year, Offor, who was born in Nigeria and raised in Connecticut, released his debut album titled My Tribe. His talent was recognized with a nomination for the GMA Dove Awards’ new artist of the year in 2022, and he scored a Christian Airplay No. 1 hit with his collaboration with TobyMac on “The Goodness.” Offor’s music has also been featured on albums by Lee Brice and Chris Tomlin, and his song “Brighter Days” climbed to No. 2 on the Christian Airplay chart.
Dolly Parton, a legendary ten-time Grammy winner, expressed her delight in collaborating with Blessing on “Somebody’s Child.” She shared, “I know it may sound cliché to say it was a blessing to sing with Blessing, but it truly was. I adore the song ‘Somebody’s Child,’ and I am immensely proud to be a part of this project.”
Parton has been actively partnering with CCM/gospel artists in recent years, teaming up with for King & Country for “God Only Knows” and working with Zach Williams on tracks like “There Was Jesus” and “Lookin’ For You.” Her collaboration with Offor on “Somebody’s Child” continues to showcase her versatility and passion for spreading messages of faith and unity through music.
