The IBMA, in collaboration with local host PineCone (Piedmont Council of Traditional Music), will utilize various venues across Raleigh, including the Raleigh Convention Center, the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, the Red Hat Amphitheater, and more. The Red Hat Amphitheater will hold the festival, along with six additional stages scattered throughout downtown Raleigh.

The extensive performance lineup for the two-day festival features acclaimed artists such as Balsam Range, Barefoot Movement, Broken Compass, Compton & Newberry, Chris Jones & the Night Drivers, Country Current (US Navy Band), and more. Attendees will also be treated to contests and celebrations, including the 100th Anniversary of the Union Grove Old Time Fiddlers Convention, showcasing North Carolina’s rich musical heritage.

David Brower, festival producer and executive director of PineCone, expressed his excitement for the event, stating, “This is our favorite time of year. I just love seeing everyone coming down to Raleigh with guitars and banjos slung over their shoulders.” The festival aims to highlight and preserve traditional bluegrass music while engaging both seasoned musicians and casual pickers alike.

IBMA Bluegrass Live! is just one component of the annual five-day IBMA World of Bluegrass event, which includes the IBMA Business Conference, the IBMA Bluegrass Ramble showcase series, and the prestigious IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards. This year’s lineup is set to take place from Sept. 24-28 in Raleigh, promising a week filled with exceptional performances and industry networking opportunities.

Reflecting on last year’s IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards ceremony, where Billy Strings took home the entertainer of the year award, attendees can anticipate another thrilling showcase of talent at this year’s event. With tickets and hotel reservations set to open to the public in May, now is the perfect time to secure your spot at this must-attend bluegrass celebration.
